David's Biography
My interest in photography dates back to the 1960's when I was a graduate student
at the University of Arizona. I built my own darkroom and experimented with black & white images using 35mm & 2 1/4" film cameras. Later, the digital revolution rekindled my interest in photography with the computer replacing the darkroom. Towards the end of my career as a biologist and college professor I became interested in micro- photography and collected hundreds of images of biological specimens for teaching purposes. That was back when a 3 megapixel Nikon camera was state of the art! After retirement from teaching in 2004, I invested in Canon cameras and lenses and began pursuing photography as a retirement occupation. My wife, Stephanie, and I work together running our business Digital Images and travel from Cabo San Lucas to Denali, Alaska capturing images of landscapes, wildlife and wildflowers. Because of my biological background, I have a strong interest in collecting wildlife and wildflower images. I especially enjoy the many challenges offered by bird photography. My wife and I belong to several local art galleries and participate in many art shows throughout Southern California.
